For the second time we were able to take part in the VATM forum at the ANGA COM 2024. The three days of the trade fair were characterized by many new contacts and good conversations.
It started on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with the first exciting lectures and events related to telecommunications. In the two exhibition halls there were numerous stands on fiber optic expansion, technology and processes, as well as software solutions for municipal utilities and carriers. In the evening, many of the trade fair visitors and exhibitors met for the ANGA Night. You can meet partners, customers and interested parties over a cozy dinner right on the banks of the Rhine.
On Wednesday there were various events in the exhibition halls and at the stands. Those interested met at our SEP station for the VATM lunch break. Dr. Frederik Ufer, managing director of the VATM, gave some exciting insights into the current political situation. The fiber optic expansion is making further progress, but only a few are actually using the fiber optic connections provided. Instead, they stick with their old lines and offers. Local businesses continue to be confronted with overconstruction. Instead of pushing ahead with nationwide expansion in rural regions, local carriers in cities in particular have to share customers with large network operators. The visitors then exchanged ideas further over lunch.
In the afternoon, the women from telecommunications met to exchange ideas. For the second time, the VATM invited people to the Ladies Mingle. This time it took place at the Waystream booth. It became clear that the number of women in telecommunications has increased over the last few years. But you still have to assert yourself with a lot of ambition and knowledge. There were various events and information sessions for visitors. The VATM also invited the companies and provided information about their member companies.
The ANGA COM is a very important trade fair for telecommunications companies and offers numerous providers in the sector a good platform. According to the organizer, there was a record with 23,000 visitors in 2024.
