Real instead of digital – successful 1st Telco industry conference in Kassel
On November 6th, 2020, industry representatives came together for the 1st Telco industry conference of dimari GmbH in Kassel.
Despite the digital age, many people are currently missing personal contacts. That's why it was important to us to bring industry representatives together under the motto "Real instead of digital", of course taking current hygiene rules into account. The participants exchanged ideas about different business models and took part in the workshop.
Lecture 1&1 – Hosting Platform
The focus of the wholesale platform for municipal utilities and carriers of the 1&1 is on fiber optic connections. Stefan Hüfken, process manager of the wholesale platform, opened the first round of the 1st Telco industry conference. Thanks to the modular structure of the services, the model offers cooperation partners maximum flexibility throughout Germany. Depending on the tasks of the municipal utility, individual or complete services can be booked. Customer management, connection and billing is implemented by the dimari software modules.
Presentation Antec – Network opening through S/PRI
Mr. Daniel Meier-Hoffmann, Managing Director of Antec Servicepool GmbH Hanover, reported on new business models for cable network operators at the 1st Telco industry conference. Through S/PRI cooperations and opening up the network for S/PRI contract partners, Antec can expand its TV and IP network for the housing industry. Since the network was opened, there have been additional benefits for everyone involved.
Lecture OpenNumbers – Voice Services in Focus
The third lecture was given by Lorenz Barth, managing director of OpenNumbers GmbH, which specializes in pure telephony services. With the help of modular solutions, resellers and network operators can book and use products and services flexibly. As an interface, varioCRM supports the processes of number ordering, porting procedures and subscriber management.

Workshop for participants & Conclusion
There was an exchange of opinions primarily on the hosting and purchasing business models. On the one hand, it is important for the carrier to operate the systems itself. This usually has technical teams that look after the IT and infrastructure anyway. On the other hand, everyone agreed that hosting models play a role, especially in the start-up phase and for smaller numbers of customers. A hybrid model could represent the IT operation by the software provider of a purchased solution in the carrier's IT.
Finally, Diethard Kumpf, Managing Director of dimari GmbH, reported on the focus in software development in 2021. Further automation, additional interfaces and an expansion of functions in the accounting module are planned. Finally, all participants were able to end the day in the networking area.
